In Montreal and elsewhere, the summer season rhymes with festivals. This year again, newspapers present a real anthology of the best festivals in the world, all disciplines taken together - music, theater, street arts, gardening, cinema, fairy tales and poetry, dance… they suit every taste, they please every audience and they are of all sizes (local or international).
Canada, the UK, Italy, Portugal, France… every country has their summer festivals - with many festivities being in the spotlight thanks to newspapers such as Ottawa Sun, The Sun Times, Il Messagero, Diario de Noticias, France Soir.
In 2007 already
In 2007, Le Monde was already wondering about what it called “The Festival Madness” in an article of July 1st. “This festival proliferation is not without risks”, Le Monde’s journalist wrote at that time, highlighting the amazing political stake of these events, “the danger of saturation”, “the rising remuneration of international VIP”, a lack of exclusive rights and of original features of festivals looking like mere tour dates for well-known artists and the difficulties faced by “small artists”.
Let’s participate, once again this year, in this amazing summer effervescence and let’s overwhelmingly welcome, more than ever, the idea of discovering new talents making us tremble with emotion.
